We are raising money for CHICKS through a 6 day trek (over 9,000ft climb) to
Mount Roraima, Venezuela (the mountain that inspired Arthur Conan Doyle's
'The Lost World').
CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City
Kids) provides free respite holidays for kids from underprivileged backgrounds.
Run from their centres in Devon and Cornwall they take children aged 8-15 from
across the UK. This gives the kids a proper holiday and a break from their
normal situation.

On Nov 1st 2009 I am running the New York Marathon for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, but in order to do this I need to raise £1200 for the Trust. Flights and accommodation are paid for by myself so all the money raised goes to the charity and the amazing work it does. I have set up a Just Giving web site to make it easier for people to pledge their hard earned cash www.justgiving.com/michilawilks I know November seems a long way off but believe me, the days soon fly by when you get stuck into some serious training (almost coming to the end of 5 months of Grizzly training!) This is a once in a lifetime race for me to do and is on my list of major races to achieve between the ages of 40 and 50, and I turn 40 the month before, so what better way to celebrate and embrace my 40’s!!! (Maybe a relaxing Caribbean holiday???)
